News: The 2026 Rankings Are In: Discovery Map Hits the Top Lists Again

At Discovery Map, we’ve always felt that a hand-drawn map and a bit of local insight are the best ways to explore a new place. It’s nice to see that the franchise industry still sees the value in what we do, too.

We’re happy to share that 2026 is starting on a high note. Discovery Map has once again been named a Top 200 Franchise by Franchise Business Review and earned the 22nd spot on Entrepreneur’s list of franchises you can start for less than $50,000.

We’ve Been Here Before

While we don’t like to brag, these rankings aren’t exactly new to us. Discovery Map has a long history of being recognized by both Franchise Business Review and Entrepreneur. We think making these lists year after year says a lot about the consistency of our business and the community of owners we’ve built over the decades. It’s not just about growth; it’s about staying power.

Keeping Business Ownership Within Reach

One of the biggest hurdles to starting a business is the cost. That’s why we’re proud to be ranked 22 on Entrepreneur’s 2026 list of Top Franchises Under $50,000.

With an initial investment typically ranging from $31,550 to $45,950, we’ve worked hard to keep this business accessible. By cutting out the need for a storefront or expensive inventory, our owners can focus on their territories without the heavy overhead that sinks many startups.

“Our goal has always been simple: provide a great product for travelers and a sustainable lifestyle for our owners. Staying on these lists proves you don’t need a million-dollar investment to build something meaningful.”

New Tech for a Classic Product

Even though people still love the feel of a paper map, we know the world is digital. We haven’t changed the hand-drawn art that makes us famous, but we have evolved. Our new Discovery Map App bridges that gap.

The app adds a layer of convenience to our maps, featuring:

  • Interactive Listings: Helping travelers find nearby food and shops in the moment.
  • Smart Integration: Bringing the charm of our physical maps onto a smartphone.
  • Local Support: Making it easier for visitors to find and spend money at the independent businesses that make a town worth visiting.
