News: Discovery Map Franchisees Making a Difference in the Wake of Hurricane Helene

When disaster strikes, it’s the strength of a community that truly makes a difference. At Discovery Map, we’re incredibly proud of the way our franchisees have stepped up to support those impacted by Hurricane Helene. Their actions are a testament to the heart and soul of our brand – a commitment to not just mapping communities, but to being active and caring members of them.

Two shining examples of this community spirit come from South Carolina:

• Katie Finch, owner of Discovery Map of Mount Pleasant, saw the devastation caused by the hurricane and immediately sprang into action. Using her personal social media account, she put out a call for donations to help families in need. The response was overwhelming! Within just 24 hours, Katie collected a mountain of essential supplies – diapers, wipes, hygiene products, snacks, water, medicine, and so much more. This incredible outpouring of generosity highlights the kindness and resilience of the Mount Pleasant community.
• Further inland, Laura Byers of Discovery Map of the Sandhills focused her efforts on providing warmth and comfort to those who lost their homes. She organized a donation drive for warm clothing, partnering with local businesses Pure Barre Southern Pines and Clean Juice Southern Pines as drop-off locations. The result? 83 coats plus bags filled with hats, gloves, scarves, and boots, all headed to Ashe and Avery County in the High Country to help those facing the cold aftermath of the storm.

These stories are just two examples of the incredible work our franchisees do every day. They’re not just local business owners; they’re community members who genuinely care about the people around them. They understand that being a part of a community means being there for each other, especially in times of need.
